Trenton: He'll soon be driving! And the day can't come soon enough. I'm probably more excited than he is. Mainly because he will now be able to drive himself and his brothers around to all of their practices and basketball games and church rehearsals. I'm a little nervous to have them on the road alone, as I'm sure most parents are, but I just gotta aim and release. :) Still drumming like crazy. And it's still loud. We've given him a specific set of hours (3pm-5pm) when he's ... Read More
Cabin Trip
One time, in 2014, we rented a cabin in Leavenworth with our close friends. We had such an amazing time with our families, we vowed to do it again the next year. Except that the babies kept coming and life got busy and 2014 turned in 2015, which turned into 2016, and that lead into 2017 and still no cabin trip. But in 2018, we put it on our Friends Goal List and made it happen. We packed up our kids and our bags and our kids' bags, and hit the road. This was our cozy cabin in Ronald, ... Read More
Mother’s Day
I remember interviewing for various jobs when I was a teenager and whenever they would ask me where I saw myself in 10 years, my answer was always the same. I wanted to be a mom. I probably missed out on a lot of good job opportunities because of that answer (my long term goal was to get pregnant, not upper management) but it was just something I knew. I'd been planning my family since I was 15. I wanted 3 boys and 1 girl; I even had their names picked out. Until I got older and realized my life ... Read More
Jones Boys Lately
Trenton: He smells like pepper. Literal pepper, people. Those lovely teenage hormones have kicked in and even though he showers once a day, he still smells. I even bought him a (whole lotta) body spray and put a Bath & Body Works plugin in every one of my outlets. I know this phase will pass...but then I have 2 other boys and their hormones to deal with. Pretty soon I'll be skipping the plugin and just sprinkling the oil directly on them. The Ice Cream Man is making a killing off our ... Read More
Daffodil Parade
Another Daffodil Parade in the books! This year Trenton got to be Lead Snare in the percussion line section area (probably still not the right term) and we couldn't have been more excited. Trenton was not as excited about us being excited. In fact, on more than one occasion, he asked me to calm the heck down. But you're only in the Daffodil Parade once, I argued. Except that he's actually in it for a couple more years. Like, 4 to be exact, if he continues with band all throughout high ... Read More
