My sister got married in August and instead of getting married in here in Washington, her and her fiancé (now husband) decided on a destination wedding in San Diego. So, when in Rome…
The first stop was the San Diego Zoo. It was huge. HUGE. We have zoos here, but they don’t really compare to the San Diego Zoo. We were there from about 10am to 4pm and we got to see everything. (Except for the animals who were hiding and didn’t want to be seen – I’m lookin’ at you, sloths.)
We also didn’t get to see the polar bears or the red pandas. The polar bears weren’t too much of a disappointment, because there are polar bears here at our local zoos. But I was bummed about the pandas, who’d just been shipped back to the motherland. At least, that’s what the San Diego Zoo Employee told us, when the angry mob was demanding refunds. (Kidding.)
The entrance fees were well worth the experience, but we didn’t end up eating any of the food there. It was all over-priced and looked a little too much like cafeteria food for us to justify the money. We did, however, spend $50.00 on 3 smoothies and a can of Rosè. Because THAT’s the only way to do the zoo: can of Rosè and baby elephants.
