One time, in 2014, we rented a cabin in Leavenworth with our close friends. We had such an amazing time with our families, we vowed to do it again the next year.
Except that the babies kept coming and life got busy and 2014 turned in 2015, which turned into 2016, and that lead into 2017 and still no cabin trip. But in 2018, we put it on our Friends Goal List and made it happen. We packed up our kids and our bags and our kids’ bags, and hit the road.
This was our cozy cabin in Ronald, Washington. We had 3 bedrooms with a loft and a basement. We originally thought the loft would be great for the kids, but it turns out, we really just need a basement. Somewhere to shove the kids that’s away from us adults. Maybe a basement with 2 separate game rooms, one for kids and one for teens.
Or maybe just a separate vacation, one for kids and one for adults. 🙂
The teenagers thought it would be fun to make shirtless snow angels. The line between fun and insane is blurry sometimes. 🙂
This was my night to make dinner and we went with this meatloaf recipe. Because Trenton’s birthday was the day before we left, I let him pick the meal and meatloaf is one of his favorites. The only change I made was to drape bacon over the top.
Becau- wait. I don’t need an explanation for that.
We found a little spot on Yelp to take the kids sledding without paying an arm and a leg. It was only about $30 and you could buy both your Discovery Pass AND your Sno Park Pass onsite. We stayed for about 2 hours, until the kids had worn themselves out, which made me even more grateful that we didn’t pay for the $100 pass that Snoqualmie was charging.
While we were there, the Winter Olympics were on and we got to watch US Women’s Hockey beat Canada. If you saw that game, you know it was a pretty intense finish, and this picture perfectly sums up how we were all feeling.
And maybe how we were all feeling from being cooped up in a house with all our kids all week, haha! We definitely had a bit of cabin fever going on!
It was a great mini-vacation and now that it’s checked off the Friends Goals, it’s time for the next adventure! Which is either Waco, Texas and Magnolia Market or getting mammograms.
But one thing’s for sure, I will NOT be documenting the mammograms. 🙂
