Another weekend, another mountain!
Last week’s adventure was to North Bend to hike Snow Lake. While the views were amazing and the lake on the other side of the mountain was beautiful, this was a hard climb. If you’re an experienced hiker, you probably wouldn’t have any issues on this trail. In fact, the kids seemed to be fine the whole trip. But myself, on the other hand, couldn’t breathe. Wanted to pass out. Almost got hit in the head with a falling rock.
So, yeah. Not my personal favorite.
This trip has an elevation gain of about 1,800 feet over the course of 3.5 miles (7 miles round trip). I know that doesn’t sound extremely difficult, but let me assure you: it’s probably not and I’m just out of shape. 🙂
Yeah, that’s definitely it. And here’s proof; my boys, looking NOT AT ALL winded.
We finally made it down to the lake and it was gorgeous. It was quiet and calm; not a lot of people made it down that far to swim. The water was pretty warm, but the farther out you swam, the colder it got. (Hello, glacier water!)
We had fun and crossed it off our Bucket List, but I don’t think it’s a hike we’d do again. Because there are SO many great places to visit in Washington, why do the same trail twice?!
But also (and more importantly) I’m not sure my legs could take that again. 🙂
