For Mother’s and Father’s Day this year, in lieu of gifts, we opted to take my parents out to explore Seattle. They’ve always wanted to do the typical touristy things, but both hate the traffic and the crowds and don’t really know where to go or how to get there.
Enter Davey and Jessica. And Yelp.
We took them to a few of our favorite places (the Starbucks Roastery and Ivar’s Salmon House) and also found some new things to do (and eat) too.
I don’t think we could’ve picked a more beautiful weekend; the sun was out and it was gorgeous.
Instead of the usual 45 minute drive on I5, we took the ferry from Bremerton to Seattle. So, you’re basically driving south only to turn around and go north, but these views are worth it.
We had taken this exact ferry ride back in 2007 with our boys and thought it would be funny to re-create the photo.
Aidon is definitely heavier than he was at 7 months.
Once we docked, we ate and explored and ate some more. One of the highlights was Wings Over Washington down at Miner’s Landing. It’s a little spendy (especially with 7 people) but it was so fun to see all of Washington in about 15 minutes. 🙂
We also took them to the Gum Wall, which has really become the Gum Alley. It’s kind of disgusting when you really think about it, but you gotta go.
We had lunch at Von’s 1000 Spirits (definitely bookmarked that to go back to again) and got dessert at Molly Moon’s Ice Cream – they had vegan options for Mom and Dad. By the end of the day though, we’d walked off all the calories we’d consumed because it was a lot of walking. But it was a fun day.
Now we just have to save up to do it again next year!
