I think I used to be one of those people who frowned on doing the same thing over and over again. I liked surprises and going-with-the-flow. Making spur-of-the-moment plans and then changing them because something better came along.
But then I had kids. And I became an over-controlling mother, who now LOVES scheduled spontaneity and predictable, repetitive get-togethers.
Or, as I like to call them, “traditions”. 🙂
So, we had our traditional 4th of July: watched Lone Survivor in the morning before heading over to the Pool Party! We saw friends and swam, walked to the park and watched fireworks. And, of course, I ate my body weight in pie.
Or, should I say pies.. One of my moms (I say “moms” because I have so many: my mom, Huz’s mom, Corianne’s mom, Jen’s mom, Andy’s mom, Paul’s mom, my work moms, and Trenton – he’s the worst) makes the most amazing fruit pies and I literally wait all year for them. They were so, so good. I’m pretty sure she’s reading this, so thank you Margaret for making them! *pray hands, pray hands*
(If you haven’t yet seen Lego Batman, do yourself a favor and rent it tonight.)
Hope you had a great day with your loved ones too!
