Day 2 of California Adventures. While we had SO MUCH fun in California Adventure, I think it’s safe to say that we only needed 1 day in the park. We got to do everything we wanted at least twice. So the second day was just us going around and doing everything a third and fourth time. 🙂
The first thing we did when we got into the park was jog up to the Grizzly River Run and get our Fast Passes for the World of Color that night. I had read on Yelp that if you wanted good seating for World of Color, there is a limited number of Fast Passes handed out for that nights show early in the morning. So check. Got those.
Then we did Soarin’ Over California (again) and Cars (again) and California Screamin’ (again). You get the picture.
While the older boys were on the Tower of Terror, Aidon and I went to an Animation Class and learned how to draw Baymax.
And no. I’m not going to show you my drawing.
Since we had so much time, we took the kids over the Boardwalk Arcade and played some games. I don’t know what it is about kids playing lame games and winning even lamer prizes, but they could’ve stayed there are all afternoon.
Jackson is laughing so hard in this picture, because there was a cute little boy who was oblivious to the picture that we were trying to take and he kept wandering in and out of the photo. Just when Huz would go to take the shot, he’d kind of trip over his own feet and back into the frame. This happened several times and by about the 4th time, it was pretty funny.
And what do you know. We still got a good picture.
In the afternoon the boys wanted to swim at the pool so we went back to the hotel to relax. (Note to self: next vacation, you can save yourself a whole lot of money by just booking a hotel with a pool and skipping the park tickets.)
We went back to the park around 6:00pm and got in line for World of Color. And here is probably only complaint about the entire trip: World of Color is kinda dumb. As is the Fast Pass for World of Color.
The Fast Pass allows you early entrance to the Pier and I think the official time it opens is 7:00pm. (Keep in the mind the show starts at 8:00pm.) Except people start lining up for the 7:00pm entrance time at 5:00pm. So…that’s 3 hours of waiting.
But wait. There’s more. Not only are you waiting for 3+ hours, you’re standing for 3+ hours. There are no seats. You can choose to sit on the ground, but the good people of California Adventures don’t love that. They are trying to squeeze as many people as possible on this Pier, for maximum viewing. They were herding us into these roped off areas like cattle. I’m not sure what the point of the Fast Pass is, but it seemed pointless to me.
And then the show starts. And you watch water spray up with colored lights and music and pictures in the water and…I’d rather be riding a ride. So will we do another Fast Pass for World of Color? Nope. Will we do another World of Color at all? Yeah…probably not. Was it cool to see that one time? Maybe.
Would it have been a whole lot cooler with Malibu and Coke?
Oh heck yes.
And then we finished off the night at Tortilla Jo’s in Downtown Disney. Now THIS I could rave about. The food was incredible and the service was amazing. I had the fajitas and the chips and guacamole. And part of Huz’s chicken enchiladas. And a bite of Aidon’s burrito.
Don’t worry, I left a big tip. And a small piece of my dignity.
