Well let me be honest: this is more of a recap of the last 2 weekends because every time I sit down at my computer I fall asleep. Or get distracted by a cooking video on Facebook, which I know I’ll never make but there’s something hypnotic about watching onions simmer in butter.
The Washington State Fair (formerly the Puyallup Fair) has been open the entire month of September and we had almost managed to avoid the whole thing this year. But the kids get a free ticket from the school, so we made an obligatory trip last weekend. We knew it would be the ONLY time we’d go, so we made the most of it: elephant ears, giant cube of fries, cotton candy, old fashioned taffy, krusty pup and a burger.
I wonder what other people do when they go to the Fair…games? Rides? Huh.
Our giant cube of fries. Soooooo good.
Since school started back up…so did Tech Timeout. Let me just say, no one in our family loves this idea. The kids complain, Huz REALLY complains (it’s football season) and I sit around thinking of the million of things I could be doing but that I need my phone for. But it’s good for us.
Last week, we made tie blankets. Next week, we’ll be churning our own butter.
My boss had a birthday last week and for her birthday we had a giant bunny come to surprise her. This is Hercules, who is a 4 year old bunny/small horse.
Have I mentioned that I love my job?
Also, we are hiring, so if you’re looking for work, find our ad on Craig’s List.
Aw…Friday Night Lights. (Which, by the way, this is the 10 year anniversary of the tv show Friday Night Lights. If you haven’t seen it, do yourself a favor and clear your calendar so you can binge watch it on Netflix.) We got to see Bellarmine play Emerald Ridge on Friday and it made me miss high school.
So much so, that I text all my high school girls to set up a dinner date at our favorite after-the-game restaurant (Red Robin). I’m hoping our parents will pay. 🙂
Date Night with my main squeeze! We were driving to the theater and he suddenly pulled the car over and insisted to take this photo. It’s a lot grainy, but this is the spot where we took our wedding photos 15 years ago. Love him.
BUT, I wish I could say the same thing about the movie we saw. I had high, high hopes for Sully. I love Tom Hanks. I love Clint Eastwood. I love it when people DON’T die.
Maybe it was the movie popcorn or the fact I sat too close to the screen or the way the movie was shot, but it wasn’t good. I don’t do well with movies that are shot with handheld cameras, where the transitions are jumpy and the camera isn’t steady. On top of that, the storyline was confusing and I even knew what happened!
Huz seemed to love it though. The whole time I kept thinking, “this is my movie-karma punishment for making him see Me Before You.” 🙂
I’d give it a RedBox Recommendation though. Just make sure not to sit too close to your tv.
