This past Saturday was my annual makeup day with the girls. In years past, we’ve made appointments and had our makeup done by professionals, but this year we decided to switch things up a bit. The 3 of us have been glued to YouTube lately, specifically to watch Jaclyn Hill, our favorite beauty blogger. After watching a few of her videos and making a shopping list (okay, I was the only one who made an actual list) we set out to Sephora to do some damage.
I think my favorite purchase is something you use to take your makeup off. I’d seen The Makeup Eraser on Facebook and was pretty skeptical on whether or not it could take ALL your makeup off. I wear some pretty heavy-duty concealer and eyeliner and it usually takes me a few tries to get it all off my face. Plus, I’m lazy. I’d rather just go to bed. But it’s only $20 and supposedly good for 1,000 washes, so I figured I’d give it a try.
Holy. Waterproof. Eyeliner. Batman.
Not only did it take ALL my makeup off, but I didn’t even have to really “scrub” my face. When I use the Neutrogena Face Wipes, I have to use both the front and back of the wipe and scrub my face pretty hard. It leaves my face red and splotchy. Hence, why I don’t ever bother washing my face and just buy new pillowcases every few months.
But The Makeup Eraser was super soft and I barely had to use any pressure. So far, I don’t have any negative reviews for this product. The only thing I would have done differently is purchased the black one. I don’t like to see all the makeup I’m taking off, especially because I don’t wash it after every use. (You can throw it in the washing machine, but I don’t think it’s meant to be washed after every use.) So my next one will be black.
This next beauty buy isn’t from Sephora, it’s actually from MAC. I’ll cheat on Sephora for MAC. 🙂 This is Prep + Prime CC Colour Correcting Powder in Illuminate. I decided to go with the lavender powder to help balance out some of the redness in my skin. I have super, super sensitive skin and it turns red if I rub or scratch it. So I’m hoping this will even it out a bit.
You may recall that I found the BEST eyeliner a couple of years ago, made by Laura Mercier. It was liquid, it was waterproof, it was smudge proof…and then it was discontinued. Why, Laura, WHY?! Since then, I’ve had a hard time finding an eyeliner that’s comparable. I had read great reviews on the Stila All Day Liquid Eyeliner, so I’m giving this one a try.
This isn’t anything special, just your ordinary sugar lip scrub. But now that it’s winter, my lips are getting chapped and it ain’t pretty.
And lastly, I ordered some Banana Powder from Ben Nye. (You can’t order this from Sephora.) Ever since I tried the Anastasia Contour Kit last year, I’ve been obsessed with banana powder. The only problem with the kit, is that I don’t need the other 5 colors, just the banana color. I use it as a highlighter and under my eyes. (And when I don’t use it, I look dead. So me running out of the banana powder is everyone’s worst nightmare.) I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Ben Nye Banana Powder, so we’re gonna give this a whirl.
Every once in awhile, I like getting my makeup done. It’s relaxing to have someone brushing and painting my face. But the reality is that I have to do my own face every day, every morning, so days like Saturday are way more beneficial for me. What are some of YOUR beauty must-haves, that I must have?
🙂
