Twenty Questions with Corianne
I decided to play Twenty Questions with Corianne and even though I thought I would be able to predict ALL her answers, there were still a few that surprised me. I also answered 2o questions on her blog, so head on over there if you want to read my answers. Yes, we both ask a lot of questions about food and makeup.
But that’s why we’re best friends.
1. Screenshot your current iPhone wallpaper:
My lockscreen is all modest mom, but then you enter my passcode and BAM – all the bling to make me feel like a sorority girl charging all my favorite things on daddy’s credit card.
2. Do you miss not having a middle name?
Well, now I do. Thanks, Jessica.
3. Describe your bedtime routine.
HAHAHAHAHAHA. Bedtime routine? I have a toddler and a 9 month old. The only thing “routine” about my nights is that I ALWAYS eat chocolate, I normally wipe off my face with a lavender-scented Neutrogena wipe, and we probably fall asleep on the couch.
Ok, I’m kind of being sarcastic. Bedtime starts around 8:30. We snuggle on the couch, or have a dance party, or read some books. Then Porter gets 30 mins of “tech time” on his iPad, which is basically code for “mommy and daddy can relax and watch Family Feud and not Paw Patrol”. Then at 9:30, Paul usually takes Porter to bed. We always say prayers, sing some songs/talk about his day, and then rock him for a few minutes before tucking him into bed. While Paul is putting Porter down, I’m usually trying to get Simon to sleep. If we’re lucky, both kids are down by 10pm or so, and we spend a couple hours catching up on the DVR (clearly, we’re night owls), eating a late dinner or dessert, and chatting. It’s my favorite time of the day. 🙂
4. Three beauty products you can’t live without:
Coconut oil, because I use it to remove my makeup and moisturize. Better Than Sex mascara, because you got me hooked on it and I am seriously IN LOVE. I’m not kidding I didn’t know I could feel this way about a mascara. It’s SO build-able and smooth… it’s the best. My Anastasia Contour Kit. It’s like 6 products in one, so I’m technically cheating, but still — the banana powder can do a number on my dark circles, the contour shades are great, the highlighter is pretty. I mean, it’s no Champagne Pop, but…
5. First date with your husband?
Technically, I think it was that dinner we had at the Ram with you, Davey, Jen, and Andy… ya know, where you told us that if we didn’t date, then we would basically ruin your lives and so we just needed to date already. Supes romantic.
6. Your life is being made into a movie. Which actress is playing you?
Sophia Bush, from Chicago PD. We have scratchy voices, and she’s a brunette. Oh, and she and I have the same RBF (Urban Dictionary it). Do you think Lindsay Price is available to be cast as my super glamorous, candy-loving best friend?
7. Teenage (Dream) Crush:
Brian Littrell, from BSB. He was the first guy I remember actually being SAD about when I learned of his marriage. My heart was shattered. Alex Rodriguez was a close second, back when he was a Seattle Mariner. I was like… “I could be a baseball wife.”
8. When I say “snack” what’s the first thing that comes to your mind?
Yes. (And also, nachos.)
9. Best show on television right now is…
Oooh, that’s mean. FALL TV IS BACK… My front runners are Law & Order, How To Get Away With Murder, Blacklist and Chicago PD. I have to go with Blacklist or Chicago PD.
10. What’s your hidden talent?
I can (and likely will) overreact to any situation. Seriously, it’s a gift. I’m embracing it.
11. Pretend you’re a superhero. What would your superhero name be? And your power?
I know my power would be the ability to freeze or go back in time whenever I wanted. You know, just so I could go back and relive a few days with Porter as a newborn, or go back to my honeymoon in Mexico if I was having a bad day, say no to every single guy I dated prior to meeting my husband, or to get Jackson Jones a hat that fit for that Christmas of 2010.
12. Describe your perfect Friday Date Night:
We would leave the kids with our family, and stop to get a coffee on our way to the mall. At the mall, we would enjoy an hour or so of kid-free shopping, or go to a happy hour – just the two of us. Then we would meet up with our friends at a restaurant or at someone’s house, where we would spend the rest of the night laughing and eating and taking slow motion videos of ourselves trying to kick a football like Steven Hauschka. Those kind of nights are my favorite.
13. First job?
Wet Seal. I made $9.72 my first paycheck, forgot a mandatory Saturday morning employee meeting and quit because I was “omg, so stressed”.
14. Put your hands in your pants pockets. What did you just pull out?
I’m wearing yoga pants, like most days. But if I had pockets, I would probably find a chewed up piece of Porter gum, goldfish crackers, a Starbucks receipt/straw wrapper, and maybe a couple dollars.
15. Least favorite quality about yourself.
I’m pretty anxious by nature and I hate it! I work really hard every single day to keep myself peace-filled and focused on Truth. EASIER SAID THAN DONE, for sure!
16: Today is Monday and Jesus is coming back on Friday. What would you eat Tuesday,Wednesday, Thursday and Friday?
Jesus loves me and He wouldn’t do that to me. He would give me at least a full week. But if He did… Tuesday I would be freaking out and might not eat a lot. Maybe just a really fresh taco salad and some chips/guacamole. Oh, and probably street tacos. Wednesday, Paul will have calmed me down and I will have realized that it’s time to get down to business. So, Wednesday would be a whole lot of steak, garlic mashed potatoes, and asparagus. Spaghetti from Scarpetta. An entire meal from Giada’s in Vegas. And cake. Always chocolate cake. Thursday, I would feel a lot guilty and want to head to Heaven feeling a little better about myself, so I’d keep it simple: all the fancy cheese, wine, figs, thin-slice pears, honeycomb and balsamic reduction my Jesus-filled heart could handle. And cake. And then Friday, we’d really whoop it up. A big NY-style pizza (pepperoni, jalapeno and mushroom – thincrust. Champagne. Maybe some of our favorite sandwiches – a really great Cuban, or a loaded grilled cheese with tomato soup. Omg, I’m hungry.
17. What advice would you give to your 21 year old self?
Calm down. Everything will turn out better than you could ever dream. Take care of yourself, respect yourself, and listen to that still small voice that you keep ignoring.
18. Thank you Mom, for…
Introducing me to makeup and pretty, girly things. My earliest memories are of watching you do your makeup, and testing your pretty mirrored tray of perfumes. Paul thanks you for that, too – my perfume game is STRONG.
19. Favorite family tradition:
I love ALL holidays, but my favorite day in the world has to be the day before Thanksgiving. I love the prep. We cook, we laugh, we eat, we plan our annual “Yellow Friday” festivities (another favorite day of mine)… the anticipation is just the BEST. It’s the kickoff of my favorite time of year and I always savor every moment. We also head out of town after Christmas for a week, and stay in a huge house with my husband’s family. It’s so much fun! Last year it was a gorgeous lake house and it was fully decorated for Christmas – full of beautiful lights and featuring a real wood-burning fireplace. I got up every morning and worked from the kitchen on my laptop, overlooking the lake – it looked like a sheet of glass. Sipping coffee, working with that view? Yeah. So good… so peaceful and serene. Oh, and on that trip we always do a huge, intimidating puzzle: 1,000 pieces. I feel like really freaking people out and bringing a 3,500 piece puzzle this year, because what is a Christmas vacation without a little angry meltdown?
20. What do you think your dog calls you?
An expletive, for sure.
