I read back over the first post I did of the boys’ update and man, things change fast! Some of the things they were doing 3 months ago, I’ve forgotten about, so I’m glad I wrote them down.
Prepare To Have Your Mind Blown: When I was little I used to collect Coke bottles. I would put them up on this shelf I had in my room. I specifically remember buying this single glass Coke bottle when I was 13, in 1993. I remember because I bought it cold and desperately wanted to drink it. But instead, I saved it. Fast forward to this weekend and this photo:
Here’s my 13 year old son, drinking my glass bottle of Coke, that I bought when I was his age. Now, 2 things: yes, that is disgusting, Trenton. That is from 1993 and you’re gross. (He said it tasted fine.) And secondly: No, that’s still just gross.
Mom Knows Nothing: Last month when I picked Trenton up from school, he climbed into the car and sat sulkily in the seat. When I asked him what was wrong, he said he was having some girl troubles and asked for my advice.
Minecraft? Don’t get it. Girl Problems? Well, now.
He said that a girl he liked had been ignoring him and wanted to know what he should do. Easy. I told him to ignore her right back. Be polite, but don’t go out of the way to talk to her. Eventually, she’ll see that you’re not interested and then she’ll be interested.
Except that 2 weeks later when I picked him up from school, he told me that my advice wasn’t working and he just walked up to her and asked if things were cool between them. She said things were fine, but she felt like he was ignoring her and it hurt her feelings. And then they decided to just to hang out at lunch and talk if things were bothering them. And then he proceeded to tell me that I gave the WORST advice ever and from now on, he was going to dad.
What. Ever. She talked to you, didn’t she?
InstaFave: His Instagram Account is easily my favorite follow. He keeps it private and I have to approve all of his requests, but if you’re lucky enough to follow him…you’re in for a good laugh.
My absolute favorite are his selfies.
And when he posts about me:
Or about his clothes:
And when he gives relationship advice:
Holding Hands: One of my favorite things about Aidon right now is that he always wants to hold my hand. We’ll be walking together, anywhere, and all I have to do is put my left hand out behind me and he’ll grab it. I don’t even need to look for him. Just extend my hand, and he finds it. I know this isn’t going to last much longer, so I’m getting as much time in as I can.
