Saturday morning we
lied told the kids we had a few errands to run, hopped in the car and went to breakfast. I have no excuses. Other than…
Yeah. I have no excuses.
We’re horrible parents.
After breakfast we wandered across town to a coffee shop and then over to the public library. I love the library. It’s so quiet. And there’s something about the smell of library books…
Gave myself a quick little mani/pedi before church. It was actually a much needed pedi. My toes haven’t seen sun since last summer and I’ll just leave it at that.
Saturday night, Huz and I shared the leftovers of my Bailey’s Chocolate Cake from Arista.
Sunday morning it was church as usual. It was also Simon’s Baby Dedication, so we took a few photos in the lobby after service. All our friends have younger kids, who have to be held for photos and I guess Huz was feeling a little left out.
Everyone else was holding someone.
And Sunday night we babysat both Simon & Porter so Corianne & Paul could get away. I remember that stage of parenthood: your kids are young, you’re doing everything for them, you’ve exhausted all of your babysitting options and your pissed at your friends who can do as they please.
A few weeks ago while Huz and I were on a date, we were reminiscing about that time in our lives and how hard it was. We didn’t have a lot of support and we relied on our parents for pretty much everything. We didn’t leave the boys with our friends, mainly because it made me nervous (one person actually asked me if it was okay to heat up a bottle in the oven – THE OVEN) and also because they were busy with their own lives. Now that we’re past that point, we feel like we want to help out our friends who are going through that now.
So Porter came over and had dinner with us. I made pecan chicken and smashed potatoes. He only ate potato chips and grapes. It was cute. He put Aidon’s underwear on his head. So cute. And followed me around calling me “Tee Jess.” (Auntie Jess) Ever cuter. I kinda miss that stage.
Until he ran around the house pulling on every Bath & Body Works Plug In (and there are A LOT) in our house. Haha. Yeah, I don’t miss that. 🙂
