I made a Fall Bucket List at the end of summer and am pretty determined to actually DO some of those things. Happy to say that I crossed Oktoberfest in Leavenworth OFF the list last weekend!
Our friends Jeremy & Savannah decided to go too, which I wasn’t shocked about at all. Savannah loves fall. LOVES fall. She bleeds pumpkin spice lattes.
Gang’s all here! I sometimes think the ride TO the destination is more or just as fun as the actual destination. At least in our case it is. We always have to stop at a gas station to load up on snacks. Even if the whole trip is only 30 minutes long.
I thought this little window was adorable. It was right across from us as we were eating lunch at Gustav’s.
When we first arrived in Leavenworth, it was pouring rain! None of use had brought umbrellas or rain jackets, so we spent the first few hours hopping from restaurant to restaurant. (Which, I’m not complaining about.) It’s just not a good thing to be in a town where literally everyone is drunk and running around in rain-soaked white t-shirts. Thankfully, it stopped raining and the sun broke through. You can even see a little blue sky back there.
How CUTE is this winery we found?! I’ll tell you: SO CUTE.
I wanted to rip everything off the walls and come home with it. From the antler chandeliers to the sanded, faded floor boards…GET IN MY HOUSE!
If you’ve never experienced Leavenworth, it’s hard to explain. It’s a little Bavarian town, where everything, McDonald’s and Starbucks included, embraces the Bavarian style. It looks straight outta Shrek. 🙂
When we were Oktoberfested out, we headed over to Wenatchee, which is another little town about 20 minutes southeast of Leavenworth. Jeremy and Savannah had been to this little pub in Wenatchee called McGlinn’s Public House and wanted us to try it.
First of all, this place had something called Beer Bread. I’m not even sure what it was made of…but it was good. I had flat iron steak with bleu cheese sauce and white cheddar mashed potatoes. I wasn’t really that hungry. 🙂
Everything on their menu looked amazing. I would absolutely drive back just to eat there again. There were so many things on the menu that I didn’t get a chance to try. Steak salad. Fresh fruit and brie platter. Blue Mac & Cheese. Let’s all go!
Oh here’s Huz pretending to ride a bike after dinner. He was so excited to take this photo, I felt like I had to post it.
And the downer of the night…on the ride home when I got my finger stuck in my seatbelt. Luckily, it came free, but there was about 10 minutes of pure panic. When I’m tired, I over-dramatize everything…so I was practically in tears thinking about how hard it would be to type without a middle finger. But then I wiggled it free and Boyz II Men’s Motownphilly came on and all was right with the world again.
