I’ve made very little progress on the updates to our dining room. I blame summer. And my family. And the weather. It’s too hard to do DIY projects when there’s white water to be rafting.
I did finish 2 walls, which I’m pretty excited about though. You may remember this dresser…
It used to live in our bedroom with all our clothes in it. (I say “our” but it was mainly “my.”) Minor detail.
And you may remember the dining room used to look like this…
Just a window. In a wall. While the sweat drips down my b-.
Wait. Sorry. Got a little sidetracked there. What was I saying?
Right.
There was an empty space below the window. Well it’s empty no longer.
It’s been painted and now holds all of our DVD’s. I also changed out the handles to make it look a little more “farmhouse.” Love the finished look of this…and to think I almost gave the dresser away for free.
I also put up these shelves. I even have photos IN the frames. I mean, that’s crazy. I used to just buy frames and leave the photos they come with in the frame. And hang them.
And now I’m thinking I should change out the summer photos for fall photos. What. Is. Happening.
It’s looking really good, but I still have a few things left to do. I already bought the curtain rod, just need to head back up to Ikea and buy the actual curtains. I have some new industrial-type lights I need to have installed too. Not to mention get new flooring, tables, chairs and finish this wall. My goal is to have the dining room completely finished by Christmas…and then it’s onto the kitchen! Fingers crossed!
