Labor Day Weekend was a little out of the normal for us this year. Usually we camp over in Eastern Washington for the week and see Dave Matthews Band at The Gorge. The girls float down the Columbia River while reading books, Huz gets a massive sunburn and we end up eating more sand than anything else. But this year, the river is low due to crack in the dam (or something like that) so the county closed down our camping spot. Totes annoying.
We looked for other camping spots in the area, but nothing came close to OUR spot. So we scratched camping off our list and came up with Plan B: Cram As Much As Humanly Possible Into 5 Days.
First up? A quick trip to Portland. Thursday and Friday we headed down to Oregon for a one night stay. Goodbye children, hello tax-free shopping!
First rule when traveling with these guys? Never be the first to fall asleep. You’ll wake up to a stream of photos on your phone.
One of the best ideas we had on this trip was to have Girls/Guys Rooms. Us girls slept in 1 room so we could get ready together, borrow each others makeup, and keep our room smelling like Jo Malone perfume.
And the guys had their own room, which we never had to enter. I’m not sure what it smelled like, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t good.
Our theory is that if everyone orders a small appetizer, eventually, you get to try them all.
Unless you order the Cheese Plate and it’s so good that you decide not to share. I’m lookin’ at you Corianne. 🙂
The views from Portland City Grill were amazing. The restaurant is located on the 30th floor of the US Bank Tower and overlooks the city. The Happy Hour was good and so were the prices.
The next morning we recovered from all our eating…to do more eating. We had brunch at Mothers Bistro which I can’t say enough good things about. The food was incredible, the atmosphere was perfect for brunch and our server was the best. His name was Adrian and by the time we left, we were all best friends. We even asked him if he would consider moving to Washington. He’s thinking on it.
Wouldn’t this be the perfect place to host a bridal shower? So, so cute!
I ordered the biscuits and gravy with chicken apple sausage. This photo doesn’t do it justice.
From there we walked off our breakfast at Nordstrom and did a little (more) shopping. When in Rome.
And finally ended our day at the Portland Brewing Company. Not a bad start to our weekend, although it might take me ALL of fall to work off those calories. 🙂
