Hard to believe that Memorial Day Weekend has come and gone. I started out with big plans for Jones Family Fun Day and the start of a little dining room remodel, not to mention a few BBQ’s and maybe hitting the gym once or twice. Instead, I started on the dining room makeover…and that’s about it.
When I get started on a project, I usually underestimate the time and over estimate the work. And this weekend project was no exception.
This was the first trip to Home Depot…got home and decided that Wheat Bread looked a little too pink. It’s hard to tell in the photo, but next to the tile floors that we picked out, this color taupe tends to give off a pink hue. Yeah. No. So back to Home Depot I go.
As I started painting, I came across a few other things I thought needed a fresh coat as well! (Give me a brush and a can of ultra white and as it turns out, I’m in my Happy Place.) I like bright white. It’s clean to me. And the white trim around the walls and door frames weren’t exactly white. They were more of an off-white, if you will. A marshmallow color. With black smudge marks from the boys’ shoes.
I’m not 100% ready to show the after photos just yet. I’d really like to get a few of the shelves up and once that’s ready, I’ll do a full dining room makeover post. 🙂
I should also mention, I started a lot of these painting projects at about 8 at night. Huz was thrilled. (I’m kidding. He wouldn’t even turn around for this photo.)
Aside from all the painting, we did take a load of junk to the dump. I don’t know about you, but I LOVE dump runs. I love decluttering and getting rid of stuff. That Spiderman? He’s gone. Phoebe’s mattress dog bed? Buh bye.
Our spare room is actually a spare room again…not stuffed with boxes from unpacking. A year ago. A year ago.
We ended the weekend with a small BBQ with 2 of the best people on the planet. I love having couples in our lives where I am just as good of friends with the wife as Huz is with their husbands. Does that make sense?
It did in my head. Ehhh…you know what I mean. I love our friends.
No, we never got around to Jones Family Fun Day. We just had to postpone it for a few weeks. The kids didn’t seem to mind, they were just so happy with the dining room painting.
Just kidding. They were pissed.
