In an effort to make new blogging friends, and have current friends get to know me better too, I decided to do a little interview. So I’ve enlisted the help of Huz, who came up with the questions below. Some of them are interesting…and others…well…you’ll see.
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received? The best piece of advice that I’ve received was from a good friend of mine who told me to do something. When we were contemplating buying a house, I was in prayer 24/7. All the time. I was constantly asking God to give me clear direction and give me a sign that we was moving in the right direction. And this amazing friend of mine sat me down one night and said, “Jess. You can and should be praying all the time. But that doesn’t mean that you should sit back and do nothing. You still need to do something. God will open doors…but you have to walk through them.” After that night, we did exactly that. We made an offer. We were still scared out of our minds, but we did it. And from that point on, we just received confirmation after confirmation that we were making the right decisions and God had our back 110%.
If money wasn’t a worry, where on earth would you go for your all time vacation spot? With the kids? Disneyland. For 2 weeks. And I’d bring a nanny. Without the kids? One of those huts in Bora Bora where you sleep over the water. And that has the windows in the floor, so you can see into the water. With my girlfriends? New York and as many fashion shows as I could sneak into.
Who are the two or three celebrities you would have dinner with? Two or three? How about six. In no particular order: Ellen DeGeneres. Harry Connick Jr. Kate Middleton. Lauren Conrad. My birth mother. Pete Carroll.
What would the title be for your autobiography? The title for my autobiography? Who asks these questions? Sigh. I guess it would be, “Trying To Keep Up With All The OTHER Jones'”
When did you know you loved your husband? Camp Waskowiitz in North Bend in 1999. I suddenly didn’t see you as my annoying little friend with the Detlef Schrempf haircut. I saw you as a really sweet, genuinely caring guy with the Detlef Schrempf haircut.
What are your top 5 books you have read? I’m not going to count my Bible, because, duh, it’s the Bible and it’s obviously a Top Book. So aside from my Bible, my favorite fiction books have been the Harry Potter series. Life of Pi. The Hunger Games. The Shack. The Wedding. The DaVinci Code. And the Twilight Series was okay.
What is your dream car? I have no idea. Something that changes its own oil, for sure. I really like the new Range Rover that Victoria Beckham designed?
If you could have been an extra for ANY movie you have seen, what movie would it be? Lord of the Rings. Yes.
What do you envision your future daughter-in-law to be like? What kind of questions are these?! Ugh. Trenton is going to need someone slightly nerdy. And definitely tech-y. And likes to play XBox. And who will has a vast amount of knowledge on Batman and the history of Gotham City. Jackson will need someone quiet, because he is SO the star of the show. She’ll need to be supportive of him and all his crazy ideas. And carry a full insurance policy on him. And understand his need to save his cup of water in the fridge, instead of throwing it out and just getting new water at tomorrow’s dinner. And someone who knows how to cook. Aidon’s wife is going to have to baby him. All the time. If you look at him the wrong way, he’ll cry. So she’ll need to be very understanding and compassionate. And want to be read to every night before bed but also like to clean, as he hasn’t mastered the art of “lifting the seat.” And also very flexible, as he is the most indecisive kid we have.
Finish this phrase… “Life is like…? A box of lemons. A paddle without a creek. A horse that sews 9 stitches. I give up. What’s the answer?
What “Friends” Character do you most relate to and why? Monica. I understand her need to be neat and clean. Phoebe, because 95% of the time, I understand what she was saying. And Joey, because I DON’T SHARE FOOD!
Starbucks or BigFoot Java? I can see that you’re getting tired now and really stretching for things. 🙂 I actually like BigFoot Java a little better than Starbucks. But I am also very lazy and won’t drive out of my way for Bigfoot, and end up at Starbucks instead. But hey, if you’re ever by a Bigfoot Java, I like the 24oz Mythical Mocha! (No, that’s not a typo, they actually serve 24oz.)
