This Labor Day Weekend was full of…well…labor.
In our previous house, we didn’t do much decorating. I didn’t love where we lived and thus felt no need to decorate it. We had total Renter’s Mentality. When we found we were going to purchase a home, I went straight to Pinterest. I was SO excited to start decorating and painting and buy furniture.
Since money doesn’t grow on trees, we’ve decided to take it one room at a time. Actually, it’s really one wall at a time. This also helps me focus as I am easily overwhelmed. We decided to start with our bedroom, because it’s really thee most important room in the house. A healthy marriage is a priority. Ironically, painting and decorating together may cause our divorce. Hahaha. (Kidding, Mother.)
So here is Part One. (And no, I don’t know how many parts there will actually be.)
Here’s what it looked like before…
Lots of white walls. White trim. White doors. White, white, white.
I’ve always wanted to do stripes, ever since I saw Michelle’s entry way… It looks amazing…but it also looks really hard. I’m super obsessed about having even and clean lines, so I knew that if I committed, I would have to commit. And this is also where Huz’s perfectionist self comes in handy!
I bought enough Frog Tape to tape our entire house. And then some. But this stuff is definitely worth it.
And after 5 hours of taping, leveling, laser leveling, penciling, and yelling expletives at our curved walls…
Ta Freaking Da
New night stands from Ikea…love the Hemnes series. I can’t wait to go back and get the rest of it!
I’m still not 100% on board with the lamp shades. I really liked them in the store. But against the grey walls…it really brings out the brown. So I may still be on the hunt for different lamp shades. (And don’t worry, I’ll put an actual photo in that frame.)
And here’s the accent wall in our closet. I wanted to add the grey in here so that it would tie into the rest of the bedroom. The curtains are a little long…still need to have those hemmed.
So. What’s next you ask? The opposite wall. It includes this dresser for our tv. And an electric corner fireplace from Home Depot. And this beauty from the Z Gallerie. A big comfy reading chair. A basket to put in all our blankets and throw pillows. (Yes, I am rapidly becoming THAT person.) And a big white clock that I haven’t been able to find yet.
And last but not least…
A picture wall!
I promise, I will put photos in these ones as well. But at least they are on the wall! It’s probably time to take some family photos. After 12 years…I think we’re due.
