We have been having amazing weather here in the PNW. The kind of weather that requires you to do everything outside: play, eat, relax, bathe (running through the sprinkler counts as bathing, right?) So this weekend, we decided to spend some time making the backyard pretty.
Here’s what it looked like when we bought the house:
It’s hard to see, but there’s a plastic cover up above the Pergola. It was used to keep the rain out. And there was also a black plastic tarp that was used to “funnel” the rain into the gutter. And while it was a great concept…it looked awful.
So. We (and by “we”, I mean “Huz”) went to work. We took the plastic cover off and opened up the ceiling.
Added a few outdoor patio lights and lanterns and BAM.
Definitely an upgrade. My parents bought us our first housewarming gift: a new BBQ. It’s also an upgrade, as before we were just using Black Angus anytime we felt the need to grill steak.
Ahhh…so much better. I still have a few things I’d like to accomplish before summer ends…like putting in a hot tub and sport court and deck. Huz says those things have to wait. He clearly does not have the same passion for home improvement as I do. 🙂
Now hopefully the sun stays out just a little bit longer!
